Do You Know Muay Thai.

Muay Thai or Thai boxing (Thai: มวยไทย, IPA: [muɛ̄j tʰɑ̄j]) is a hard martial art from the Royal Thai. Muay Thai is similar to other martial arts styles of Indochina, as pradal Serey from Cambodia area, Tomoi of the region Malaysia, lethwei from Myanmar and muay Lao region of Laos. Muay Thai is the national sport of the Royal Thai and derived from ancient martial arts Muay Boran. In the international world Muay Thai Kickboxing is also regarded as, because the fight is almost the same technique.

Muay Thai or Thai boxing.

Etymology.

Muay word comes from the Sanskrit "mavya" ("boxing martial") and Thai comes from the word "Tai" ("tribe of Thai"). Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or "Science of Eight Limbs" because the technique is very full use of punches, kicks, elbows and attack the knees, thus using eight "points of contact", which is different from the technique of "two points" (fists) in boxing Western-style and "four points" (hands and feet) used in martial arts sport oriented. A practitioner of Muay Thai is known as a nak muay, while the Western practitioners, non-white or Southeast Asia sometimes called nak muay farang, meaning "foreign fighter".

Origin.

Various forms of kickboxing have long been practiced throughout mainland Southeast Asia. Based on the combination of Chinese and Indian martial arts, Muay Thai practitioners claim that Muay Thai has been around for two thousand years. At the Royal Thai, Muay Thai evolved from Muay Boran ("ancient boxing"), a method of unarmed combat which may have been used by the army of Siam nation after losing their weapons in battle. Some also believe that the nation's military created Muay Thai Siam ancient art of weapons based Krabi krabong but others argue that they are developed in conjunction with one another. Krabi Krabong remains an important influence on Muay Thai as can be seen in some of the techniques kicks, clinch and movements in the wai khru which have their origin in armed combat.
Muay Boran, and after that Muay Thai, was originally called "Dhoi muay" or simply "Muay". Besides being used as a practical fighting technique for use in a real war, "Muay" became a sport in which two opponents fought in front of spectators who went to see the entertainment. The contest "Muay" is gradually becoming an integral part of the celebration of local festivals Siam country, especially those held in the temple of the Hindu-Buddhist worship. "Muay" was even used as entertainment for kings of Siam. Eventually, the previously bare-hand fighters started wearing long hemp rope around his hands and arms. This type of game show called muay kaad Cheuk (Thai script: มวย คาด เชือก).
"Muay" gradually became a possible way to achieve the progress of private life, as the nobility increasingly respect the practitioners of the art "Muay" skilled and invited fighters who elected to come and stay at the royal palace to teach "Muay" to the housekeeping staff royal, soldier, prince or the king's bodyguard. [citation needed] "royal muay" was called muay spare (มวย หลวง). Some time in the Kingdom of Ayutthaya period, a platoon of royal guards was established, whose job is to protect the king and country. They are known as "Grom Nak Muay" (Muay Fighter Regiment). Tradition "Muay" as the royal patron is continued until the reign of King Rama V (1868 - 1910) and Rama VII (1925-1935).

Fighting techniques.

Formal Muay Thai techniques are divided into two groups: "Mae Mai" or "main techniques" and "Luk Mai" or "minor technical". Muay Thai is often a full contact combat art, in which opponents mutual exchange blows with one another. This of course is based on the arrangement of a traditional style in the Royal Thai, but it is a form of martial arts that is less popular in the contemporary martial arts world circuit where force exchanging blow by blow-style Thai deemed no longer profitable. Almost all techniques in Muay Thai use the entire body movement, rotating the hip with each kick, punch, elbow and defense.

Punches (Chok).

Stroke technique in Muay Thai was initially quite modest and long cross into the attack (or lazy) circular done with your arms straight (but not locked) and landing with the heel of the palm of the hand. Mating cross-referenced with boxing Western and martial arts Western makes the distance punches a fist full of western style now used: jab, straight right / cross, hook, uppercut, a punch poke and punch gyre and on hand, as well as fists and a blow to the back.
As a tactic, body punching is rarely used in Muay Thai martial art than attack others in order to avoid exposing the attacker's head and hit back of the knee or elbow. To take advantage of distance points target, in accordance with the theory of the center line, a fighter could use western style or Thai-style stand that allows the execution of long-range attacks or short range attacks effectively without sacrificing defense.

Elbow (sok Tee).

Elbows can be used in several ways as a weapon of attack: horizontal, diagonal-upwards, diagonal-downwards, uppercut, downward, backward-spinning and flying. From the side of the elbow can be used as a final stance or as a way to cut the opponent's temple so that blood can obstruct vision. Angled diagonal faster than other forms of attack another elbow, but less powerful.

There is a clear distinction between a single elbow strike and subsequent attacks. Attacks single elbow is an elbow move independent of other movements, while attacks continued elbow is the second strike from the same arm, being a hook or a straight punch with an elbow as advanced. The elbow attack, and attack other elbow, is used when the distance between fighters becomes too short and too little space to throw a hook into an opponent's head. Elbows can also be used as a defense or a defense which is very effective against, for example, attacks the knees and down, side-body attack knees, kicks or punches.

Kick (Tae).

The two most common kicks in Muay Thai is known as teep (literally "foot jab") and tea chiang (kicking upwards in the form of a triangle cut under the arm and ribs) or "corner kick". Muay Thai angle kick uses a rotational movement of the whole body and has been widely used by practitioners of other martial arts. It looks similar to a kick-turn karate, but eliminating the rotation of the lower leg from the knee used in martial arts attack like most karate or taekwondo because like Kyokushin, Goju, and kenpo kick is made from an attitude circular, with the hind legs only slightly moving backward, compared to martial instincts of the upper body (boxing).
This style has an additional risk where the groin will be vulnerable at any time contrary to the principles of Karate and Tae Kwon Do in general except for a brief time after the kick. Corner kick gather strength entirely from the rotation movement of the body, which is part of the hip. It is estimated that many fighters use a counter-rotation of the arm to increase the strength of this kick, but in reality the power comes from the hips, and arms are put in the position to free the attacks of obstruction.
If the swivel kick is attempted by an opponent, Muay Thai fighters usually will deflect to kick his shins. Thai fighters are trained to always deflect and attack the shin. Foot contains many fine bones and is much weaker. A fighter may actually be hurting himself if he tries to attack with his foot or instep.
Muay Thai also includes other kinds of kicks like a side kick and kick to the back-spin. The kicks only be used in an attack by some specific fighter.

Knee / knee (kao Tee).

* "Kao Dode" (jumping knee attack).
Fighter jumping on one foot and a knee strike with the foot.
* "Kao Loi" (flying knee attacks).
Fighter took a step, skip to the next and from one foot strike with the knee.
* "Kao Tone" (Attacks knee straight)
Just handed fighter knee forward but not upwards, unless he holds an opponent's head down in a clinch and intend to knee stabbed upward into an opponent's face. According to one written source, this technique is somewhat more recent than the "Kao Dode" or "Kao Loi".
Supposedly, when fighter Muay Thai traditional fighting with their hands tied rope (not a boxing glove fighter modern), this particular technique has the potential to injure by cutting and scratching by the opponent alert that will block or parry with "glove-strap" that sharp-edged that sometimes dipped in water to make the rope stronger. This also applies to some knee attack.
In an episode of the US television show Fight Science, martial artists use the technique most powerful kick them on the doll-crash test to test the strength of their attack. This event compares the strength broken-side kick karate, Chinese double flying kick, spinning back kick taekwondo and muay Thai knee strike conducted by Muay Thai champion Melchor Menor. In terms of strength, power, damage and depression caused chest kick, Muay Thai knee strike resulted in the greatest power of all these techniques.

Encouragement foot (Teep).

Impulse-foot or literally "foot jab" is one of the techniques in Muay Thai. It is mainly used as a defensive technique to control distance or parry attacks. Impulse-leg should be launched quickly but with enough force to knock the opponent off balance.

Regulation.

Muay Thai is practiced in many countries and there are different rules depending on the country where the fight takes place under the rules of the organization and what the game is set. Thank you for reading this article.

Silek then taken and developed by the Minang people throughout Southeast Asia. Most martial arts history told through legends that vary from one region to another. Such as the origin of martial arts Cimande flow that tells the story of a woman who witnessed a fight between a tiger and a monkey and he modeled the movement of the animal fighting. The origin of martial arts in Indonesia may have evolved from the skills of indigenous tribes Indonesia in the hunt and fight using machetes, shields, and spears.

As it is now found in the tradition of Nias tribe, which until the 20th century relatively untouched by outside influences. Silat is expected to spread in the archipelago since the 7th century BC, but their origin could not be ascertained. Nonetheless, silat is now recognized as a culture of the Malays in the broad sense, ie the inhabitants of the coastal areas of the island of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula, as well as a variety of other ethnic groups who use the lingua franca of the Malay language in the various regions in the islands of Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and others are also developing their own form of traditional martial arts. In Minangkabau language, it is equal to Silek parried. Sheikh Shamsuddin (2005) argues that there are significant martial arts of China and India in the martial arts. Even actually does just that. This is understandable because the Malay culture (including Pencak Silat) is an open culture in which since the beginning of the Malay culture has adapted to the various cultures brought by traders and immigrants from India, China, Arab, Turkish, and others. Cultures were then assimilate and adapt to the culture of the natives. Then presumably historical martial arts was born along with the emergence of Malay culture. Thus, each region generally has a proud martial character. For example, the Malay people, especially in the Malay Peninsula believes that Hang Tuah legend of the 14th century is the greatest martial arts warrior. Things like that also happened in Java, which boasts Gajah Mada.

The development and deployment of martial historically began to be recorded when the distribution is heavily influenced by the ulema, along with the spread of Islam in the 14th century in the archipelago. The historical record is considered authentic in the history of martial arts whose influence still can be seen today. At that time martial arts have taught together with religious lessons at the mosque-mosque. Silat then developed than just martial arts and folk dance, becomes part of the education of defending the country to face the invaders. Besides, it also martial arts become part of spiritual practice.
Silat grown in Indonesia and Malaysia (including Brunei and Singapore) and have the same historical roots as a means of resistance against foreign invaders. After days of independence, martial arts developed into formal martial arts. National martial arts organization established as Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) in Indonesia, Persekutuan Silat Kebangsaan Malaysia (PESAKA) in Malaysia, Singapore Silat Guild (EXACTLY) in Singapore, and the Guild Silat Brunei Darussalam (PERSIB) in Brunei.
