Indonesian Islamic State (NII shorted, also known as Darul Islam or DI), which means "House of Islam" is a political movement which was proclaimed on
August 7, 1949 (written as 12 Shawwal 1368 Hijri calendar) by Sekarmadji Maridjan Kartosoewirjo Cisampah Village, District Ciawiligar, Kawedanan Cisayong, Tasikmalaya, West Java. Proclaimed when the Dutch State Pasundan artificial lift Raden Aria Duke Wiranatakoesoema as president.
This movement aims to make the Republic of Indonesia which had just proclaimed its independence and no war with the army during the Kingdom of the Netherlands as a theocratic state with Islam as the state religion. In the proclamation that "the law applicable in the Islamic State of Indonesia is Islamic law," more clearly in the legislation stated that "the State based on Islamic" and "supreme Law of the Quran and Hadith are". Proclamation of Indonesian Islamic State expressly stated obligation of the state to make laws based on Islamic law, and the harsh rejection of the ideology other than the Quran and Sahih Hadith, which they call the "law of infidels".
During its development, DI spreading in some areas, particularly West Java (along with adjacent areas in Central Java), South Sulawesi, Aceh and Kalimantan. After Kartosoewirjo military captured and executed in 1962, this movement became fragmented, but still exist secretly though regarded as illegal by the Indonesian government organization.
DI / TII in Aceh began with a "Proclamation" David Beureueh that this is a part of "Islamic State of Indonesia" under the leadership of Imam Kartosuwirjo on September 20, 1953.
Daued Beureueh never held office as the "Military Governor of Aceh" when the first Dutch military aggression in mid-1947. As military governor he have complete control over the defense and control of the entire area of ​​Aceh government officials both civilian and military. As a cleric and former Military Governor, David Beureuh not difficult to gain followers. David Beureuh also succeeded in influencing government officials in Aceh, especially in the area of ​​Pidie. Amir Fatah is a figure who gave birth DI / TII Central Java. At first he was being faithful to the Republic of Indonesia, but later changed his attitude to support the Movement DI / TII.
