Giant mosaic pool featuring intricate geometric patterns has been unearthed in southern Turkey . This proves the emergence of an extensive reach in the heyday of the Roman Empire .
Mosaics adorn the floors are found throughout the 7 -meter bathhouse complex and is beyond the possibilities , said Michael Hoff , historian of the University of Nebraska , Lincoln , and director of the excavation this mosaic .
This finding , according to Hoff , is likely to come from 3-4 century . Mosaic was also quite spacious, which is 149 square feet, or an area of the family home.
" To be honest , I was amazed at the size of a very large mosaic ," said Hoff told LiveScience .
The first clue that there is something admirable buried in southern Turkey emerged in 2002 , when Purdue University history professor Nick Rauh classic run on the newly completed plowed fields near the ancient city of Antioch ad Cragum .
The results led to pirated pieces of the mosaic floor , Hoff said . Rauh then consult with other archaeologists , including experts at the local museum Turkey .

It is the largest mosaic ever found in southern Turkey , which is a suburb of the Roman Empire , according to Hoff .
The existence of this mosaic shows that Antiochia ad Cragum got more Roman influence than previously thought .
Tim Hoff also been dug from the third century Roman temple in the city and the streets are flanked by pillars as well as shops .
