Satanic Church history.
The Church of Satan was first established in San Francisco, California, on 30 April 1966 by Anton Szandor LaVey. Anton LaVey himself became High Priest in the church until his death in 1997.The forerunner of the Church of Satan actually comes from an association called "The Order of the Trapezoid" (members of this association which later became the governing body of the Church of Satan) which was formed in 1950 by Anton LaVey.
The first members of satanic church administrators are :
- Carin de Plessen (who grew up in the royal palace of Denmark)- Dr. Cecil Nixon (magician, eccentric, and the inventor of the automaton)
- Director Kenneth Anger, City Assessor Russell Wolden
- Donald Werby
- Anthropologist Michael Harner
- Writer Shana Alexander, and
- Anton Szandor LaVey (who later became the high priest of the Church of Satan)
In the first year of its formation, the Church of Satan was mentioned in many news and the topic of magazine and newspaper articles during the 1960s and 1970s.
