Popular resistance.

A great battle escaped national history . The battle occurred in Kedongdong (1753-1773) , seventeen years before the outbreak of war Diponegoro , or better known as the Java War .
Dutch colonial government policies that set the tax high value to the people , policies assessed as very suffocating , because when the people are in poor condition and all-round difficulty. This policy is contested by a very strong public, especially the students . When that happens the resistance - start people's resistance against the Dutch .
Intensified struggle against the Dutch , after Suryanegara Prince , Crown Prince Sultan Kanoman IV refused to submit to the command of the Dutch colonial . He decided to get out of the palace and the people join together to fight back .
Under the leadership of the prince , the people more fiery spirit so fierce uprising everywhere . Dutch troops became more desperate , they defeated a very large war , lost thousands of lives not only soldiers , but also a loss of 150,000 guilders to fund the war .
Facing the desperate resistance of the people under the leadership of Prince Suryanegara , the Netherlands also requested additional troops , even the Netherlands also requested assistance from the Portuguese troops who were in Malacca , to help them dampen people's resistance Cirebon .
The arrival of six ships carrying reinforcements Dutch troops , who are supported by the strength of the Portuguese army in Port of Muara Jati , do not make people cringe resistance . On the contrary they are getting into the spirit of resistance . Massive battle going on in the Village District of Susukan Kedongdong . In the battle of the thousands of lives lost , both on the part of the people and the Netherlands .
After undergoing the battle for twenty years (1753-1773) , the Dutch finally realized that they could not face the people's resistance frontally . And they are looking for ways to cripple the spirit of popular resistance . One way is to capture the Prince Kanoman , because the prince under the leadership of the people's spirit of resistance more flared .
Finally, with all their tricks are cunning , Netherlands to capture the Prince Kanoman . Belandapun hold in Batavia , then exiled in Fort Victoria in Ambon. Not only that, the Dutch also abolished the titles and rights of nobility Prince Kanoman . After the arrest of the prince, people's resistance weakened. Little by little the Dutch forces managed to control the battle .
Although spared from the national history , Kedongdong War proved to have a special meaning for the Netherlands . The battle which took a big loss for the Netherlands , both the treasure and lives , has been written in a narrative story by a soldier named Van Der Kamp Holland . Van Der Kamp original article is currently stored in the National Library of the Netherlands .
Resistance is provided by the Prince Suryanegara along with people of Cirebon in Kedongdong War , we can balance the with fierce resistance that is given by Prince Diponegoro , Tuanku Imam Bonjol and Cut Nyak Dien . Therefore it is appropriate that the battle recorded in history as a national battle is not just a battle of local communities. Thank you for reading this article .
