Parikesit (Dewanagari: परीक्षित; IAST: parikeṣita; parikṣit) or Pariksita is a figure of the epic Mahabharata. He is the king of the kingdom of Kuru and grandson of Arjuna. His father was Abhimanyu while his son is Janamejaya.
In the book Adiparwa, the end of history is told that King Parikesit died bitten Takshaka dragon lurking in the guava fruit, according to the curse of a Brahmin Srenggi who felt hurt because King Parikesit has draping carcasses black snake around his neck, Bagawan Samiti.
Events before birth.
Parikesit when still in the womb, his father named Abhimanyu, Arjuna participate together in a great battle on the mainland Baratayuda Kurukshetra. Because the question was not answered, Raja Parikshit became angry and took the carcass of a snake was nearby with his arrows, then draping his neck Bagawan Samiti. The event was then told the Kresa to Bagawan son named Sang Samiti Srenggi angry.When the Srenggi home, he saw the carcass of a black snake wrapped around his neck. Because of anger, then the Srenggi utter a curse that King Parikesit will die from snakebite within seven days from the curse pronounced. Bagawan Samiti disappointed with the actions of his son, who condemned the king who had given them shelter. Finally Bagawan Samiti promised to undo the curse. He then sent his disciples to tell the king, but the king was ashamed to ask in his undo the curse and chose to take refuge.
In time, the Dragon Takshaka go to Hastinapur to execute the command Srenggi to bite the King. Policing in Hastinapur very tight. The king took refuge in a high tower and surrounded by soldiers, brahmin, and the expert can. To be able to kill the King, Dragon Takshaka then disguised as a caterpillar in a guava fruit. The nuts then presented to the King. Felt safe, because it was the afternoon of the seventh, King Parikesit become complacent. The curse then become a reality. When the nuts to be eaten, the caterpillars turn into Dragon Takshaka back, which then bite the neck of the King. Parikesit and died to ashes, and the Dragon Takshaka back into the earth.
Descendants of King Parikesit.
Parikesit Madrawati married and has a son named Janamejaya. Janamejaya appointed king at a young age. Janamejaya Wapushtama married, and had two sons named Satanika and Sankukarna. Satanika appointed as king in place of his father and married the daughter of the Kingdom Wideha, then had a son named Aswamedhadatta.The descendants of king Parikesit is a legendary king who led the Kuru kingdom, but history does not appear in the Mahabharata.
Parikesit in Java.
Parikesit was the son Abhimanyu aka Angkawidjaja, knight Plangkawati with consort Goddess Utari, daughter of King Matsyapati with Dewi Ni Yustinawati of the kingdom of Virata. He was an orphan, because when his father was killed in battle Bharatayuddha, he was still in his mother's womb. King Parikesit have 5 (five) wives and 8 (eight) sons, namely:
Dewi Puyangan, has son Ramayana and Pramasata
Gentang goddess, Dewi son has Tamioyi
Satapi Goddess or Goddess Tapen, has a son Yudayana and Dewi Pramasti
Impun goddess, Dewi son has Niyedi
Dewi Dangan, has a son Ramaprawa and Basanta.
