Trends Transmission of HIV / AIDS.

HIV infection risk groups, namely injecting drug users, transgender and gay men, a challenge in the response to HIV in Indonesia in the future.

In 2007-2011, HIV prevalence among sex workers much directly (without intermediaries), transvestites, and gay men (MSM). However, that changed in 2009 to 2013. "It needs a new treatment," said Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi at a press conference at the Ministry of Health, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/8). Representatives from a number of international agencies, such as UNAIDS, ILO and WHO, also attended. Also Secretary of the National AIDS Commission Kemal N Siregar.

Nafsiah, from five-risk populations, namely injecting drug users (IDUs), female sex workers direct, indirect female sex workers (covert use intermediaries), transvestites, and MSM, only HIV prevalence in female sex workers directly and indirectly are not increased in the period 2009-2013.

Trends in the prevalence of injecting drug users in 2009 increased by 8.8 percent to 14.4 percent in 2013. Similarly, the prevalence of transvestites from 5.8 percent (2013) to 8.2 percent (2013) and MSM from 2.5 percent (2009) to 7.4 percent (2013).

Nafsiah claimed to be surprised by that fact. Therefore, since 2006, various attempts have been made to tackle the transmission of HIV. "Needles and syringes are provided and protective equipment can also be purchased everywhere, but still many who do not wear it. If you have a risky behavior, wear protective gear, "he said.

Government policy in the period 2006-2014 among other interventions against risk populations, such as injecting drug users, sex workers, and the prevention of transmission from mother to baby. For example, the period 2011 to June 2014, the number of HIV-positive pregnant women who received antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) continues to increase, respectively 601 people, 1,070 people, 1,544 people, and 1,456 people.

As a result, the percentage of babies born to HIV positive decreases. In 2011, of 949 infants born to HIV positive 7.5 percent (71 infants) were infected with HIV, in 2012, of the 1,458 babies born 5.9 percent (86 infants) HIV positive, and the last year of 1,630 babies were born 5.6 percent (91 infants) were infected with HIV. Until June 2014, of the 926 babies born, 5.8 percent (54 infants) were infected.

While the number of deaths (CFR) associated with AIDS also declined from 11.04 percent in 2006, 6.31 per cent (2008), 5.01 per cent (2010), 3.79 per cent (2012), and 0.4 percent (June 2014 ).

However, the current trend of the HIV epidemic reveals that the threat of HIV infection from injecting drug users, transgender, and MSM trend continues to rise.

Secretary of the National AIDS Commission Kemal N Siregar said, through modeling that became a national strategy action plan, the HIV epidemic in 2010-2014 was reduced, especially in the group of injecting drug users, low-risk men, female sex workers, and sex buyers.

However, the epidemic in groups of low-risk women and MSM it remains high. Low-risk women generally are housewives infected from her husband or a woman who contracted the disease from her partner. "Many wives who did not dare tell her husband when known HIV positive. In fact, her husband who transmit, "said Nafsiah.

Steve Kraus, UNAIDS Regional Director Asia Pacific, added, the most important in the prevention of HIV / AIDS is expanding the scope of the examination, treatment, and protection / prevention of transmission. HIV testing should be easy, inexpensive, and easily accessible. (ADH). Thank you for reading this article.
