The word "cave" comes from the Sanskrit Guha.
Record.
Due to continuously discover new caves, therefore the record size of the cave constantly updated. The cave system (in the distance) is Mammoth Cave (Kentucky, USA) with a length of 579 km. This record is unlikely to be passed in the near future for the second longest cave known to be in Pechera Optymistychna in Ukraine with a length of 214 km.
In 2005, the deepest cave known (measured from point of entry to their lowest point) is Gua Voronya (Abkhazia, Georgia, with a depth of 2,080 m. This is the first cave ever explored to a depth of over 2 km. The cave first with a depth of more than 1 km've explored is the Gouffre Berger is famous in France. Gouffre Mirolda - Lucien Bouclier cave in France and Lamprechtsofen Vogelschacht in Austria is a cave to the second and third deepest with a depth of 1733 m and 1632 m, respectively. this record has been changed several times in recent years.
The record depth of the cave protrudes downwards held by Vrtoglavica cave in Slovenia with 603m, followed by the Velebit cave in the Velebit mountain in Croatia with a depth of 553m.
Largest cave ever encountered is the Sarawak Chamber, in the Gunung Mulu National Park (Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia), with an area of 600 m x 400 m and a height of 80 m.
Krubera Gua, Gua Most Within.
Krubera Cave is the deepest cave in the world, also known as the Cave Voronya that in terms of the English known as Voronja Cave is the deepest known cave on Earth. The cave is located in Arabika Massif of the Territory Gagrinsky-West Caucasus, in the Gagra district of Abkhazia-Georgia.The depth of the cave entrance that has been explored is approximately 2,191 m ± 20 m (7188 feet ± 66 feet). Krubera Cave is located about 2,256 m above sea level in the Valley Ortobalagan, which has a perfect shape, through the sub-glacial from Caucasia.
Cave known as Krubera-Voronya, considered the "Everest of caves" .It became the deepest cave in the world.
One interesting question is how the Krubera-Voronya cave achieve a great depth, assuming that the cave is connected with the lower level of the Black Sea in the past.
However, explorers from various countries down to the cave Krubera from time to time. Most of them want to set a depth record or find out if the cave will be deeper than is known.
The basic purpose of the exploration of the cave is first and foremost is to understand the caves, underground water system, the development of geology and ancient climate on earth.
In 2004, for the first time in the history of the Speleological Association of Ukrainian expedition reaches a depth of more than 2,000 m, and explore the cave to 2080 m (6824 feet). The maximum depth of 2,191 m at this time, was achieved during an expedition in August-September 2007. The cave is still known to have a depth of more than 2,000 meters on Earth.
The approach to the extreme depths of the cave was achieved, using a rope, through a complex path is specified by the water flowing through the cave.
Some of the expedition team had to dive through the cold water (two degrees Celsius) in order to reach the deepest parts of the cave.
Arabica Massif, the home of the cave Krubera (Voronya), which is one of the high mountains of the largest karst limestone in the West Caucasus. The mountain is composed of limestone depths continuously to the southwest in the direction of the Black Sea.
Among the several hundred known caves in the Arabika Massif, fifteen have been explored to depths of over 400 m and five cave to a depth of over 1,000 m.
All large cave in the Valley Ortobalagan possibility of having a single hydrological system, connected to a large spring on the Black Sea coast. Direct physical connection to the system at Gua Krubera Arabica probably correct, though not yet realized physically.
There are many indications that the underground cave system in the world is true. What exactly happens in this system is a mystery.
Caves Krubera not been adequately studied, but could also be an important pathway in the network of caves in the world.
